When you plan to attend university or college you do have to estimate how much money you will need for a term of studies. The rent should be comparable to that of the cost of the room once you evenly divide the total monthly rent by the number of people sharing the apartment of house. You will have to estimate how much money you will need for food though as you will have to buy your own groceries. One way in which you can do this is to have one of your parents sit with you to plan a menu and then see how much it costs. With renting an apartment you may also have to pay your own energy bills as well as your own telephone television and Internet expenses.

You can go online to see the cost of living in the city where you plan to attend school to find out if it is higher or lower than where you live.
